Ski areas and Nordic skiing centres
The Alps offer numerous localities equipped with ski lifts and alpine ski slopes, which are often interconnected and form large ski areas, offering several services. First and foremost the Dolomiti Superski as it includes most of the ski slopes in the Dolomites, between South Tyrol, Trentino and Veneto. The largest ski areas in Piedmont include the Italian-French areas Via Lattea, the Mondolé Ski, the Riserva Bianca, the Neveazzurra and parts of the Monterosa Ski, which extends mainly in the Aosta Valley. There, between the villages of Breuil-Cervinia, Valtournenche and Zermatt (in Switzerland), stretches the ski area Matterhorn Ski Paradise. The Adamello Ski, a ski area with slopes extending between Lombardy and Trentino, and the Ortler Ski Arena in the province o Bolzano are also worth mentioning. Skiers can enjoy numerous ski tours in the middle of breathtaking views, nature parks and historic towns. The ski lifts, which are usually open also in summer, contribute to make these localities attractive excursion destinations. In the entire Alpine region, there is no shortage of Nordic skiing slopes and cross-country skiing centres.
