La Villa, 1450 m a.s.l., a village of 1000 inhabitants, has been increasingly living on tourism since the 1930s. At the beginning especially summer tourism, then, with the construction of the ski lifts (the chairlift to the Col Alto was the first in Italy) mainly winter tourism. But the main attraction are clearly the unique Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage.
Villa Alba is located 100 m from the ropeway to the Piz La Villa (connection to the Sellaronda) and offers a direct view on the World Cup Giant Slalom slope Gran Risa.
The starting line of the Maratona des Dolomites is just 100 m from the house.
The village center is just 300 m far and easily reachable along the sidewalk.
If you are looking for something special, an unspoilt alpine ambience like in the first years of alpinism in Alta Badia, Villa Alba is the right place for you!
The house, which dates back to the 1930es, has been renovated without taking away its original appeal and atmosphere. If you are looking for authenticity, you will feel at home in this house, built in 1935 by Gustino Sorarù, one of the first mountain guides and number 8 of the state certified ski instructors of Italy.
In 1988 a second building was added.
The comfortable old Stube was maintained, and a small TV room and the new and generous entrance/reception were added.
The rooms in the old building haven’t lost the appeal and comfort they had before. They will remind you of the first years of tourism in Alta Badia.
The bathrooms are generous and satisfy modern demands. Nonetheless, you will find the flair of the old house there, too.
The rooms in the new house are a mix between modern and nostalgic.
Everywhere in the house you can admire trophies, coming from three generations of ski racers, and lots of books.
In the morning you will find a rich breakfast buffet with home-made cake and marmalades, as well as many products from local farmers.
A free WiFi-connection is available in the whole building.
