The garni is situated in Sottoguda, a lovely village set in the wonderful scenery of the Dolomites, at the foot of the Marmolada. The name of the garni comes from the extraordinary narrow valley known as "Serrai", located at a stone’s throw from the accommodation and offering a breathtaking 2 kms trail to Malga Ciapela. This setting is perfect for those searching a direct contact with the mountains and its tranquillity and silence.
The Garni ai Serrai is a family run business open all the year round. Its rooms are simply furnished, comfortable and equipped with bathroom, phone, satellite TV, hairdryer and almost each room has a balcony. The breakfast is complete and delicious, carefully prepared to suit all tastes. In the bar you can relax and taste the specialities of the house. There is also a heated warehouse for skis and ski-boots, bikes and climbing equipment.
In summer the region offers alpine itineraries for mountain-climbers who want to discover the highest summits, but also trails for the less expert, as well as a lot of relaxing activities in the quietness of the woods. In winter, the ski slopes are just 2 kms from the garni and can be reached by skibus; from Malga Ciapela the cablecar takes you to the Marmolada, also called "Queen of the Dolomites", and to the other lifts connecting this area with Arabba and the Dolomiti Superski carousel. At the end of the day, you can come back skiing along the Serrai, a valley which becomes even more fascinating in winter thanks to the "iced faces" on its walls, a true attraction for ice climbers.
