THE PASQUALS IN BORMIO
A unique tradition of its kind where it has its origins in the pastoral and rural culture of our land, it embraces the popular religiosity of our ancestors.
The great allegorical sedans are the protagonists of the party.
Real handcrafted masterpieces prepared by the young people of the five departments of the town during the winter months in hidden places, far from prying eyes.
Everything is studied in detail, from the religious meaning to the workmanship in which carpenters, blacksmiths and craftsmen express the best of their art. The aim is to succeed in creating the most representative Easter.
They are shown to the public on Easter day and carried "on shoulder" in procession through the streets of Bormio by shepherds and shepherdesses accompanied by children, families, folk groups, all strictly in traditional dress.
A jury rewards the best, evaluating the realization, the aesthetic aspect and the religious and allegorical message.
The sedans remain on display to the public, carefully supervised by their builders, until Easter Monday evening.
