Fairs and markets in the Italian Alps

Every Friday, from the beginning of May to mid-October, farmers from the Sterzing area offer their local quality products at the farmers' market. At the market in the town square of Sterzing, people meet for the weekly purchase of local South Tyrolean products or for a "glass of wine". The varied offer ranges from traditional bacon and “Kaminwurzen” , fresh and smoked trout, cheese and yogurt specialties, homemade bread, organic wines, herbs, honey, eggs to homemade juices and fresh vegetables. On this day, the alpine transhumance is evoked in which animals, after the summer in the alpine pastures, return to the village for the winter period. The festively dressed animals parade along the streets of the town centre with the inahbitants of Livigno dressed 'in the old style' to revive the emotions of rural life in days of the past.

Farms and craftsmen introduce themselves! Typical, homemade products such as cheese, bacon, jams, herbal products, etc., as well as handcrafted works of art such as wooden decorations, jewellery, sheep's wool products, natural cosmetics and much more will be on sale. Food and drink are well catered for and musical entertainment is provided by the Trio Lutz. There will be a children's programme and a petting zoo for little explorers
