Hotel Ancora 

The Hotel Ancora is situated in an emerald valley ringed by the Dolomite Alps. One of the oldest hotels in Cortina (built in 1826), the hotel is built in the characteristic Ampezzano style with wooden balconies and intricately carved and painted interior details. The Hotel is right in the center of the pedestrian mall which incorporates most of downtown Cortina, one of the most famous and elite resort towns in the world. Cortina is know for its exclusive clientele, fabulous shopping and the hospitality of the mountain people. The atmosphere of the hotel is that of a private home. Owners Flavia and Renato Sartor have infused the interiors with their personal touches and fine antique furniture creating an elegant historic ambiance.
The dining room is graced with gothic arches hand-painted in shades of blue where guests dine with candlelight and classical music. The chefs prepare international cuisine which a pleasure both to see and to eat as great attention is paid to presentation. The Hotel dining rooms are open to the public. The second restaurant, The Artist’s Tavern, is open at night and decorated with hand-painted ceramics. The cuisine ranges from the informal to the exotic and is certain to please all tastes.
The Hotel also sponsors a literary and artistic salon hosted by the well-known writer Milena Milani. The salon offers exhibitions by illustrious painters, sculptors and other artists as well as conferences and cultural debates.

This restaurant is decorated in Biedermeier style and can be utilized as a restaurant, cafe or meeting place. The Viennese Terrace was designed in memory of Francesco Giuseppe, the Emperor of Austria by Flavia Sartor, the Hotel’s owner. Clients are welcome to have breakfast or lunch on the terrace and immerse themselves in this unique corner of the world while admiring the flowers that adorn the surrounding buildings and the mountains that rise vertiginously just beyond.
