It's a wonderful place, with good food and stunning scenery. However, coming from Versiaco, the easy and basic hike is tiring and long. It's best to combine it with the Versiaco cable car to Mount Elmo and then descend along trail 4. My wife and I stayed at the end of June 2020 and were satisfied.

La Baita di sogno
E’ un luogo meraviglioso, si mangia bene e si gode di un paesaggio stupendo. Tuttavia, provenendo da Versiaco la camminata, facile ed elementare, è faticosa e lunga. Meglio abbinarla alla funivia di Versiaco fino al Monte Elmo e poi scendere con il sentiero 4.
Io e la moglie siamo stati il a fine giugno 2020 e siamo rimasti soddisfatti.

After climbing Mount Elmo from Versciaco or Sesto, you descend for a half-hour and reach the Baita del Cacciatore. The owners are friendly, the food is excellent, the view is exceptional, and the price is fair. You can soak up some sun and then hike back down to the valley for a couple of hours. I'm tempted not to write a review for fear of finding it too crowded next time I pass by! But it definitely deserves a special mention.

Posizione stupenda, buoni piatti e servizio cordiale
Dopo essere saliti sul monte Elmo da Versciaco o da Sesto, si scende per una mezz’ora e si giunge alla Baita del Cacciatore. I gestori sono cordiali, le pietanze ottime, la vista eccezionale e il conto è giusto. Si può prendere un po’di sole e poi si può scendere a valle con una camminata di un paio d’ore. Sarei tentato di non scrivere la recensione per timore di trovarlo troppo affollato la prossima volta che passo di lì! Ma si merita senz’altro una menzione speciale.

Friends had already recommended it to me and I honestly immediately added it to my list of places to try. You can get there from the Monte Elmo cable car, a leisurely walk of just over 20 minutes. A nice descent that then becomes a steep climb, unfortunately, and after sampling those delicacies, it can be tiring! The cabin is nestled in the middle of the mountain and will undoubtedly be a popular destination for skiers in the winter. It's a fairytale location with breathtaking views. They welcome us with smiles and kindness, the interior is very characteristic but outside you can appreciate the view and nature more. When you see the menu, you want to try everything: fantastic combinations, meticulously prepared, and delicious dishes. It's a shame I couldn't visit more than once. I personally tried the polenta and apple fritters, which were simply divine. And the apricot strudel...! If you go to those parts, don't miss the Hunter's Hut, it would be a real shame for your palate!

Eccezionale da non perdere
Mi era già stato segnalato da amici e sinceramente l’ho inserito subito nella lista dei posti da provare.
Ci si arriva dalla cabinovia del Monte Elmo, una passeggiata di poco più di 20 minuti a passo tranquillo. Una bella discesa che poi diventa una bella salita, purtroppo, e dopo aver assaggiato quelle prelibatezze si può far fatica!
La baita è in mezzo alla montagna, sarà di sicuro una meta gettonatissima dagli sciatori in inverno, un luogo da favola, panorama mozzafiato.
Ci accolgono con sorrisi e gentilezza, molto caratteristico l’interno ma fuori si apprezza di più il panorama e la natura.
Quando vedi il menu vorresti provare tutto, accostamenti fantastici, piatti curatissimi e buonissimi. Peccato non averlo potuto visitare più di una volta. Personalmente ho assaggiato polenta e frittelle di mele, semplicemente divine. Lo strudel di albicocche poi...!
Se andate da quelle parti non perdetevi la Baita del Cacciatore, sarebbe un vero peccato per il vostro palato!

I visited for the first time last September, arriving from the top station of the cable car, and what I found made neither I nor my wife (72 and 69) regret the 30-minute descent and subsequent ascent: a beautiful panoramic spot and an excellent restaurant, both in terms of food quality and service. If we can keep up, we'll be back.

Bellissimo!
Ci sono stato per la prima volta lo scorso mese di Settembre arrivando dalla stazione a monte della funivia e, quel che ho trovato non ha fatto rimpiangere né a me né a mia moglie (72 e 69 anni) i 30 minuti di discesa e successiva risalita: posto panoramico bellissimo ed un ottimo ristorante sia come qualità del cibo che come servizio. Gambe permettendo ritorneremo.
