Mountain hut Casera Tragonia

The Rifugio Casera Tragonia is located at 1760 meters above sea level in a wide valley on the southern side of Val Tagliamento. It is a typical Alpine building that now serves as a refuge and refreshment for tourists and hikers and enjoys a magnificent view of the Friulian Dolomites, in particular the Cridola and Monfalconi group. When the sun rises, they light up with the typical pink colour of the Dolomites: L’ENROSADIRA. It is easily reached by MTB from Forni di Sopra along the forest road that starts from the square of the old town (next to the Albergo Centrale), or on foot following the beautiful CAI path 209 passing through the beautiful "Val di Laur" or following the path CAI 223 via "Ciabias". It is also accessible from Casera Razzo and Sauris. It is open from June to September with half board. It has 16 complete beds with pillows, blankets and sheets and some emergency places in the adjacent bivouac; bathrooms with hot shower; 30 seats in the lounge with typical Alpine cuisine and 30 seats outside with a breathtaking view of the Carnic Alps and the Dolomites. Inside is still in place the large "cjaldiera" to make cheese, built in 1892, which can hold 500 liters of milk.
