Aquaprad visitor centre of the Stilfser Joch National Park

In the heart of Prato allo Stelvio, within the territory of the Stelvio National Park, lies the aquaprad Visitor Centre – a place dedicated to discovering the fascinating world of aquatic environments.
The choice of Prato allo Stelvio as the location for this visitor centre was no coincidence: just downstream from the village, the Rio Solda is home to the only river delta in South Tyrol with a high degree of natural integrity. Free from artificial protective structures, this habitat retains all the characteristics of a naturally dynamic river system, offering an extraordinary example of the balance between water, landscape and biodiversity.
Through the large aquarium dedicated to lake environments, the natural conditions of Lake Caldaro are recreated and brought to life. Visitors can observe at close quarters the main fish species that form part of the food chain of this low-altitude lake. The centre also houses an almost complete collection of fish species found in South Tyrol, providing an important overview of the region’s aquatic biodiversity.
A fascinating journey of discovery through aquatic ecosystems, where large aquariums faithfully recreate the natural environments of streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and pools of water.
Through the spacious tanks and impressive panoramic windows, visitors can observe numerous species of fish, reptiles and amphibians up close, entering worlds that are close at hand yet often unknown.

The aquaprad Visitor Centre also hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to nature, the environment and the conservation of biodiversity, offering new opportunities for learning and discovery throughout the year.
