Canyon Rio Sass

A natural environment of incomparable beauty! This is the Rio Sass Canyon in Fondo, a deep gorge dividing the important village in Val di Non.
Since 2001 the canyon is accessible thanks to footbridges and stairs, to let you discover swirling waters, waterfalls and potholes, fossils, stalactites, and stalagmites!
100 metres gradient and 600 steps: two hours of excitement!
A terrific experience
requiring just a few small precautions: with trekking shoes and a protective
helmet, you’ll be ready for discovering a really fascinating world.
The track goes on for 300 meters between rocks and gorgeous waterfalls into the canyon. New emotions and new discoveries between nature and history! You can discover iron water sources and the old bath visited by emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Sissi. You can admire the old wooden dam built at the end of the 18th century.
The swirling water and the narrow walkways between light and shadow lead us into this new adventure.
Rio Sass Canyon is open from April to mid-November with daily tours. Reservation is required (Cooperativa Smeraldo).
New: From summer 2023 the Rio Sass Canyon can also be visited at night thanks to spectacular plays of lights that illuminate the rock and the water of the river! An experience not to be missed!
