Ahrntal Valley – Holiday on the sunny side of the Zillertal valley Alps.
This valley, nestled in a majestic scenery of 80 mountains with heights over 3,000 metres, forms the northernmost part of Italy. It is surrounded and partly covered by Natural Park and is also the northernmost recreational and hiking paradise in South Tyrol.
Arrival by train to Bozen/Bolzano and Bruneck/Brunico, change to bus direction north. Arrival by car on the motorway A22 exit Brixen (Bressanone), then main road to Bruneck (Brunico), northern direction into the Ahrntal Valley.
You will find various offers for accommodation enjoying the South Tyrolean hospitality. The cuisine is creative and offers, besides traditional dishes like Graukäse (grey cheese) or Knödel (dumplings), many other culinary specialities.
Here you will find plenty of activities for your leisure time: via ferrata, zip- and fly lines, cycling paths, river rafting, canyoning, fishing, horse-riding. The valley has a rich water reservoir and thus counts many lakes and waterfalls.
The little ones find entertainment in the waterpark, petting zoo, balance parcours and with animals on the farm.
For all those who are looking for a health-holiday, the valley offers some health-parcours and the Climatic Center in the historical mine in Prettau/Predoi. Inside, the air is so pure that it can bring relief for respiratory diseases.
A visit to one of the museums, like the Copper Mine in Prettau/Predoi or the Museum of Nativity Scenes, is highly recommended.
In winter, there are uncountable possibilities for various activities. The Skiworld Ahrntal ski resorts offer 40km of slopes and the ski area of Rein in Taufers about 3 km of slopes.
Alpine and cross- country ski schools, nursery ski schools for children, ski service, ski rental, restaurants, free transport to the ski areas. Snow-shoeing and winter hiking, a paradise for ice climbing, snowtubing and a snowpark, and about 12 km of cross-country trails (approx. 40 km).
