Summer emotions

Mountaineers and mountain bike aficionados on the discovery of the mountain world, hikers and Nordic Walking enthusiasts and some keen paragliders, who observe the Dolomites from a bird’s eye view.

A clear and warm summer day in the alpine world of the Dolomites is an unforgettable experience: the Nature Park Puez-Odle and the Nordic Active Park in the idyllic Vallunga are two unique attractions. The guests explore the places of interest of this area comprising for example monuments like the ruins of the Wolkenstein Castle, the native village of the famous minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein, or the St. Sylvester’s Chapel in Vallunga. The home of the world-renowned mountaineer Luis Trenker, whose name is also borne by a promenade, boasts a lively atmosphere and is surrounded by an impressive nature. Classic tours in summer include the hikes to the symbols of the valley, the Sella and the Sassolungo. The loop trail around the Sassolungo is also fantastic by bike. An excursion through the so-called Stone City, which has been immortalised by many popular tales and legends, is ideal for all nature and sports lovers.

Winter magic

Where the mountaineer and film director Luis Trenker shot many of his movies about seventy years ago, celebrities of the political, sports and show business world love to spend their holidays.

As an alternative to skiing, the valley offers the modern cross-country ski centre on Monte Pana with more than 30 km of runs and one of South Tyrol’s longest toboggan runs. Or you try out one of Val Gardena’s ice rinks, where already the figure skater Carolina Kostner made her first turns. The Nordic Active Park in Vallunga is another true paradise for sports enthusiasts all year round. The three idyllic villages of the valley, Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva Gardena, are very appreciated all year round by those looking for shopping opportunities, cultural and culinary delights, whereas the hikers take a well-earned rest on one of the many alpine huts enjoying the fantastic view on the Dolomites and savouring a typical South Tyrolean snack of local bread, speck and cheese. Perfect winter days in the enchanting mountain world of Val Gardena!

Gorgeous ski runs

Ski runs right on the doorstep, World Cup competitions on the Saslong and awarded snow quality and slope grooming: skiing in Val Gardena is a unique and exciting experience.

The sunny slopes are a paradise for beginners and skiing experts alike. The 26 km long Sellaronda offers a whole day full of unforgettable emotions, while state-of-the-art cableways and lifts will take the winter sports athletes to the marvellous 1200 kilometres of ski runs of the world’s largest interconnected ski area, the Dolomiti Superski. The modern underground funicular Val Gardena Ronda Express connects the skiing areas Sochers/Ciampinoi and Col Raiser/Seceda, and the new funicular Rasciesa, which was inaugurated in autumn 2010, takes its passengers up to 2200 metres into the romantic and untouched beauty of the Nature Park Puez-Odle. When the alpine and skiing guides of Val Gardena show their guests the impressive Sassolungo Group and descend with them the most beautiful slopes covered with fresh snow, you will always feel their pride, the pride of those who live in this spectacular place, where man and mountain coexist in perfect harmony and where on each winter day it is possible to immerse into "the white gold" with all senses.
