Castelbello-Ciardes with Juval Castle, Reinhold Messner‘s summer residence, is situated between Resia Pass and Merano. The hiking area around Castelbello-Ciardes is sunny and varied. Castelbello at the slopes of the Sun Mountain, Castelbello 556m a.s.l., is situated 20 km from Merano.
