Webcam on the centre of Merano

The webcam offers a view of the town of Merano / Meran from the terrace of the Hotel Terme Merano. From this privileged vantage point, you can see the Kurhaus of Merano, a Liberty-style (Art Nouveau) building that hosts many events, including the well-known Merano WineFestival. Alongside the promenade running along the Passirio River, which flows into the Adige, the view is characterised by the cathedral bell tower and the Powder Tower. Merano lies in the valley floor at the entrance to the Val Venosta / Vinschgau, the Val Passiria / Passeier Valley and the Val d'Adige / Etschtal, at the foot of the Gruppo di Tessa / Texel Group, which appears in the background of the image. Thanks to its mild climate, Merano boasts a long-standing tourist tradition – even Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi, stayed here. The town is surrounded by hiking trails, some of them very well-known, such as the Tappeiner Promenade, the Marlinger Waalweg and the Merano High Mountain Trail. The Texel Group Nature Park is located right on the edge of the town and is also an ideal destination for hikers.
