Nature and Magic in the Sorna Canyon
An Adventurous Canyoning Experience in the Wild Sorna Stream
Are you an adventure lover who doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty or your feet wet? Do typical guided hikes on ordinary mountain trails bore you? Then this outing is just what you’re looking for: a dive into the canyon carved by the Sorna stream, exploring ancient mines, suspension bridges over dark abysses, fairy-tale caves, and smooth gorges shaped and sculpted by water.
Accompanied by an experienced guide, you’ll set off from the small village of Cornè and walk through the forest before descending to the Sorna riverbed. Along the way, you’ll encounter the "Pont del Diaol" – an ancient and atmospheric bridge where the stream plunges into a gorge about 30 metres deep. The route continues via equipped stairways leading to the old mines along the riverbed.
If the temperature and water levels allow, you’ll also get the chance to trek through part of the stream itself and take a dip in its natural pools – a full immersion in the Monte Baldo Nature Park!
Duration: approx. 6 hours including breaks
Elevation gain: around 350 metres
Difficulty: medium/difficult – not so much because of physical effort, but due to the nature of the activity. A basic level of physical and technical preparation is required.
Activity suitable for ages 14 and up only.
Clothing & gear:
Comfortable walking clothes, hiking boots (required for the water section), waterproof jacket, rucksack, water bottle, head torch, full change of clothes, towel, spare shoes, and packed lunch/snacks.
Minimum age: 14 years
