Christmas at Avio Castle

Experience Christmas in a truly magical place: The Castle of Avio, a FAI (Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano) property, has hidden paths, enigmas to be solved, stories and legends to be told in an atmosphere waiting to be discovered.

From the 23rd of November to the 22nd of December, the Christmas market within the walls of Avio Castle returns! After the success of past editions, the manor house at the entrance to Trentino will host the seventh edition of this event.

Five weekends to enjoy the flavours and traditions of Christmas in Trentino and beyond: exhibitors from the world of food and wine and local crafts from Vallagarina and the upper Veronese area will enliven the Baronial Palace and its large courtyard with an evocative Christmas market. Sweets, cold meats, local cheeses, wines, ciders and craft beers, honey and jams as well as small handicrafts in wood, ceramics, wax and fabric. In addition to the traditional market, choral concerts, children’s activities and guided tours will punctuate the special opening days.

A shuttle bus will be available to reach the castle on opening days:

From Sabbionara: from Piazza Conciliazione to the Castle entrance and vice versa. The cost of the shuttle bus is €2 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the FAI information point in Piazza Conciliazione.
From Avio: from Piazza Roma to the entrance of the Castle and vice versa. The cost of the shuttle bus is €2 per person, tickets can be purchased at the FAI information point.
Alternatively, the castle can be reached by a picturesque walk following the red ribbon from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III in Avio or from Sabbionara.

Every Sunday, two special routes will be available to discover the beauty of Avio’s old town centre.

At 11 a.m., walk from the historic centre of Avio to the Castle | free activity, subject to availability, departure from Piazza Conciliazione – no reservation necessary. Light trekking shoes and appropriate clothing are recommended, duration approximately 1 hour.
At 2.00 p.m., guided tour of the Historic Centre of Avio | free activity, subject to availability, departure from Piazza Conciliazione – no booking required. Appropriate clothing is recommended, duration approx. 1 hour.
