The Rifugio Firenze was built in 1888 as one of the first mountain huts in Val Gardena by the German-Austrian Alpine Club (DÖAV Regensburg). When in 1921, with the end of the Second World War, South Tyrol was given to Italy, the administration of the hut was transferred to the CAI of Florence, which renamed it "Rifugio Firenze". In 2010, after almost 90 years in hands of CAI Florence, the hut was entrusted to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, which still owns it. Open in summer from 1st June until mid of October.

Optimal

The refuge is in an excellent location for various excursions. It's run by kind and helpful people, the food is excellent, and it's a classic refuge that reflects the idea of a high-mountain refuge, not too "hotel-like." I definitely recommend it!

Ottimo

Stupendous

I love it and return every year because it has remained original without any modernity. This makes it evocative and beautiful.

Mi piace molto e ogni anno ci torno perché è rimasto originale senza smania di modernità. Questo lo rende suggestivo e bellissimo.

A goal that is well worth the effort to reach!

The second destination of our excursions in Val Gardena was this refuge, among the most famous in the area. It's not exactly easy to reach, as the guides say. It's a 3.7 km trail, mostly uphill, sometimes steep, and mostly gravel. However, once you arrive, it welcomes you with its spacious grounds and mouth-watering cuisine at a perfectly reasonable price. It's a hike worth repeating, but with a bit more training.
