The Prasupiaz farm of Jeantet Bruno was born several years ago, from the traditional grandparents’ subsistence farm. With dedication, they were breeding only few cows, carrying out all related activities (haymaking, milk production and processing). Through the grandparents’ experiences about the importance of hard work and the family cohesion, their sons Giuseppe and Bruno decided to continue the work activities initiated by their ancestors.

Nowadays activities

Currently, Geppino, Bruno and his family, composed by his wife Mirella and two daughters, are breeding 24 local dairy cows and approximately 10 calves (Aosta Red pied and Aosta Chestnut local breeds). The cows spend the winter season in the new barn, located near the St. Orso meadow, but, according to tradition, from late spring till the beginning of autumn the animals are grazing high altitude pastures in Valnontey Valley, where the Jeantet’s family has an alpine farm. In this beautiful valley at the foot of the Gran Paradiso Mountain, cows spend most of the day among the green pastures, kept alive by the love and passion of the breeders for their land. The fresh mountain grasses and the pure air are responsible for the high quality milk and dairy products. Milk processing and sale is directly done at the farm and in the cheese factory by the family’s members themselves. The direct selling has the main objective the enhancement these niche products, resulting from a production chain that contributes to territory’s preservation, fully respecting the environment.

Seeing is believing

We've been frequenting Cogne and its surrounding areas for years. We're avid hikers, we eat, and then... we refuel. At Mirella's, those who love nature and rustic surroundings, as well as good, authentic food, can enjoy a unique experience and discover the most typical flavors of the Cogne Valley and its mountain pastures. Don't miss it! Don't forget to book, as seating is limited, and that's part of the restaurant's unique character!
