Winter 2026: The Italian Alps take Centre Stage!

Winter 2026 is an extraordinary time for several locations in the Italian Alps, which will be at the centre of the most important international sporting event – featuring numerous disciplines on snow and ice, including competitions for athletes with disabilities. From Milan to the Dolomites, the events will take place across six Alpine venues: Cortina d’Ampezzo, Antholz, Livigno, Bormio, Predazzo, and Tesero.
For the areas involved, this is a unique opportunity to enhance their tourism offerings thanks to the global visibility of the event. At the same time, it is a period of intense activity that affects the availability of hotels, B&Bs, holiday resorts, apartments, and holiday homes, as well as road traffic and the overall tourism dynamics during the winter season.

From 6 to 22 February, the winter games competitions in bobsleigh, skeleton, women’s alpine skiing, and luge will be held in Cortina in the Belluno Dolomites. The biathlon events will take place in Antholz/Anterselva, located in South Tyrol. Bormio, part of the Valtellina, will host men’s alpine skiing and ski mountaineering. Meanwhile, Livigno, also in Valtellina, will stage the freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and aerial skiing competitions. Ski jumping and part of the Nordic combined (jumping) will take place in Predazzo in the Fiemme Valley. The other part of the Nordic combined (skiing), along with the cross-country skiing events, will be held in Tesero, also in the Fiemme Valley. Athletes competing in ice hockey, speed skating, short track, and figure skating will meet in Milan.
From 6 to 15 March, the competitions for athletes with disabilities will follow: wheelchair curling, snowboarding, and alpine skiing in Cortina; biathlon and cross-country skiing in Tesero; and para ice hockey in Milan.
